Holistic Healing

Medical Acupuncture

Activate the body's natural energy balance and healing mechanisms.

Medical Acupuncture is a scientific treatment method applied within the framework of modern neuroanatomy and physiology principles, going beyond traditional philosophy. By using very fine sterile needles, nerve endings, muscle tissues, and fascias are stimulated; thus, the central nervous system (brain and spinal cord) is mobilized to produce the body's own natural pain-relieving and healing chemicals (endorphins, serotonin). At our Wellness Studio Pendik clinic, we offer this safe and evidence-based treatment with our expert team at VIP standards.

For our patients who want to avoid the side effects of medications or are looking for permanent solutions to chronic pain, medical acupuncture is a powerful alternative. It provides holistic healing by balancing the autonomic nervous system (sympathetic and parasympathetic system harmony) not only in regional muscle pain; but also in migraines, fibromyalgia, sleep disorders, stress management, and digestive system problems.

The analgesic (pain-relieving) effect of the treatment can be taken much higher with the Electro-Acupuncture method, applied by giving a low-frequency electrical current to the needles when necessary. For our guests applying to our clinic from Kartal, Maltepe, Kadıköy, Ümraniye, and Tuzla, we create a unique healing program by blending medical acupuncture with other physical therapy and manual therapy modalities.

Who is this service for?

  • Those complaining of migraines, tension-type headaches, and chronic dizziness (vertigo)
  • Those struggling with fibromyalgia and widespread musculoskeletal system pain
  • Those experiencing lower back, neck, and shoulder pain (especially radiculopathy due to nerve root compression)
  • Individuals with stress, anxiety, insomnia, and chronic fatigue syndrome
  • Athletes who want to accelerate the healing process after sports injuries
  • Those experiencing gastrointestinal problems (IBS) and digestive system irregularities
  • Those seeking physical and spiritual support during the process of quitting smoking or losing weight
  • Those who experience side effects from classic drug treatments or do not want to use medication

How is it applied?

01

Neurophysiological Assessment

The source of the disease or pain is evaluated with western medicine principles. A personalized acupuncture map is created by determining which nerve pathways and muscle groups will be targeted.

02

Sterile Needling (Application)

Single-use, extremely fine, sterile acupuncture needles are painlessly inserted into the determined anatomical points (areas where nerve endings are dense).

03

Neural Stimulation

With the insertion of the needles, sensory nerves under the skin are stimulated. This stimulation is transmitted to the spinal cord and brain, initiating the secretion of endorphins and dynorphins, the body's natural painkillers.

04

Electro-Acupuncture (If Necessary)

In stubborn and chronic pain, nerve stimulation is strengthened and the effect of the treatment is increased by applying a low-frequency electrical current with a special device connected to the needles.

05

Resting and Removal

The needles are left in the body for an average of 20-30 minutes. During this process, the patient feels a deep relaxation and loosening (sedation). Afterwards, the needles are safely removed.

Benefits of Medical Acupuncture

Providing strong and natural analgesia by producing the body's own pain-relieving chemicals (endorphins)
Relieving stress, anxiety, and sleep disorders by soothing the central nervous system
Helping to reduce swelling and edema in tissues by suppressing inflammation
Accelerating the cellular repair process by increasing blood circulation and tissue oxygenation
Regulating organ functions (digestion, respiration) by balancing the autonomic nervous system
Having no systemic side effects as no chemical drugs are used
Contributing to posture and range of motion by reducing excessive tension in muscles
Increasing the body's resistance against diseases by modulating the immune system

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between Medical Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Acupuncture?
While Traditional Chinese acupuncture is based on 'Qi' energy and meridian philosophy, Medical (Western Medicine) Acupuncture is based entirely on neuroanatomy, nerve transmission, and physiology. Our experts achieve evidence-based scientific results by applying needles directly to nerve endings, motor points, and trigger points, not to energy lines.
Should I get Dry Needling or Acupuncture?
If your problem is directly a contracted muscle knot, dry needling is much faster and more effective. However, if your problem is widespread pain (fibromyalgia), a nerve-based condition (migraine, sciatica), or a systemic problem (insomnia, stress), Medical Acupuncture should be preferred. Our experts will choose the right method for you during the initial assessment.
Will I feel pain when the needles are inserted?
Acupuncture needles are not hollow and thick like injection needles; they are as thin as a strand of hair, flexible, and solid. Therefore, no pain is generally felt as they pass through the skin. When the needle reaches the correct point (nerve ending), a slight numbness, tingling, or feeling of heaviness called the 'De-Qi' sensation occurs; this indicates that the treatment is effective.
How many sessions does the treatment take?
The number of sessions varies depending on the type and chronicity of the disease. It is generally applied in courses of 6 to 10 sessions in total, 1 or 2 times a week. Many of our patients notice an increase in sleep quality and a significant decrease in their pain after the first 3-4 sessions.
Is there a risk of infectious diseases?
Absolutely not. Only single-use (disposable), sterile, and CE-certified needles are used in the acupuncture and dry needling procedures performed in our clinic. The needle is thrown into the medical waste box immediately after use.
