Clinical Wet Cupping Therapy (Hijama)

We blend traditional healing with the hygiene and safety of modern medicine.

Hijama (Wet Cupping Therapy) is a powerful detoxification and regulation method with a history spanning thousands of years, whose efficacy is proven by modern medical research. It removes heavy metals, toxins, and drug residues accumulated in the capillary network (microcirculation) under the skin by vacuuming them out of the body. At our Wellness Studio center in Pendik, Istanbul, we offer this ancient healing method in VIP clinical comfort with hospital-standard sterilization.

Unlike 'under-the-stairs' or traditional home environment conditions, our applications are performed by Ministry of Health-approved health professionals who know anatomy well. Before the procedure, blood pressure is measured, blood thinner use is thoroughly questioned, and the cups are opened from their single-use (disposable) sterile packages right in front of you. Incisions are made not with razors, but with surgical scalpels that do not damage tissues and are made at a depth that leaves no scars.

We create personalized treatment protocols for our clients coming from surrounding districts like Kadıköy, Maltepe, Kartal, Ümraniye, and Tuzla, applying not just on the back region; but offering head cupping for migraines, leg cupping for knee osteoarthritis, or cupping on specific acupuncture points for fibromyalgia.

How is it applied?

01

Anamnesis and Pre-Assessment

Before the application, the patient's blood pressure is measured, and our expert meticulously inquires whether there is any use of blood thinners or any contraindications (pregnancy, deep anemia, etc.).

02

Dry Cupping and Warming

Sterile cups are placed on the acupuncture points or painful areas to be treated, creating a light vacuum. This process accelerates blood circulation in the area, preparing the tissue for the procedure.

03

Micro Incision (Scratch)

Using single-use sterile scalpels, micro-scale, superficial, and painless scratches are made only on the uppermost layer of the skin (epidermis).

04

Vacuuming (Toxin Extraction)

The cups are repositioned and vacuumed to draw out the jelly-like blood accumulated in the subcutaneous capillaries, rich in heavy metals and free radicals.

05

Cleaning and Closing

After the procedure is completed, the area is cleaned with antiseptic solutions (or ozone oil/St. John's wort) and covered with sterile sponges against infection risk.

Benefits of Clinical Cupping

Cleaning of toxins, heavy metals, and waste materials accumulated in the intercellular fluid (Detox Effect)
Increasing circulation and tissue oxygenation by reducing the viscosity (thickness) of the blood
Gaining resistance against diseases by stimulating the immune system (macrophage activity)
A natural and powerful pain-relieving effect with increased endorphin and serotonin secretion in the brain
Elimination of edema in the body due to accelerated lymphatic drainage
Mechanical resolution of spasms and fascial adhesions in muscles via vacuum effect
Improvement in sleep quality and waking up more vigorous in the mornings
Permanent reduction in stress levels by regulating the autonomic nervous system

Frequently Asked Questions

Will I feel pain during the cupping procedure?
Pain is almost non-existent in the cupping procedure performed by experts in a clinical setting. Scratches are made on a very superficial layer of the skin (at the depth of a paper cut). Our patients generally describe the procedure merely as a slight 'tingling' or 'tickling' sensation.
Will it leave scars on my back after the procedure?
Red or purple rings caused by vacuuming completely disappear within 3 to 7 days, depending on the person's skin sensitivity and blood thickness. Superficial micro-scratches made by expert hands do not leave permanent razor scars or wounds on the skin; they close quickly.
What should I pay attention to before and after cupping?
Consumption of animal foods (meat, milk, eggs, etc.) should be restricted 24 hours before and after the procedure because animal proteins thicken the blood. Extreme effort should be avoided on the day of the procedure, plenty of water should be consumed, and no baths should be taken for at least 12 hours after the procedure. Our expert will share the detailed diet with you before the appointment.
What is the difference between under-the-stairs cupping and Clinical Cupping?
Clinical cupping is performed by health professionals with anatomical knowledge in VIP environments under completely sterile conditions, using single-use medical consumables, where the risk of infectious diseases (Hepatitis, HIV, etc.) is reduced to zero. A medical treatment protocol is applied based on acupuncture meridians and trigger points, rather than randomly.
Is the Cupping calendar (Sunnah days) mandatory?
For healthy individuals having cupping for preventive medicine and detox purposes, it is recommended to follow the Lunar calendar (17th, 19th, 21st days of the Hijri calendar and Spring/Autumn months). However, in emergency situations requiring treatment such as pain, disease, acute spasm, or poisoning, cupping can be performed at any time without waiting for the calendar.
