Osteopathy

Awaken your body's self-healing power by touching its wholeness.

Osteopathy is an in-depth manual therapy concept that examines the anatomical and physiological relationships between the musculoskeletal system, internal organs (visceral system), and central nervous system (craniosacral system) in the body, diagnosing and treating the source of pain within a holistic framework. Instead of the area where the pain is located, it aims to find the real mechanical or fascial restriction causing the pain. At Wellness Studio in Pendik, Istanbul, we offer VIP services supporting the body's autoregulation (self-repair) ability with our expert osteopaths.

The human body is interwoven with interconnected connective tissues (fascia) and membranes. For example, the scar tissue from a past appendicitis surgery can create a fascial pull that appears years later as right shoulder or lower back pain. The osteopathic approach detects these connections with special manual palpation skills. In our clients coming to our center with complaints of chronic or unexplained pain from surrounding districts like Kadıköy, Maltepe, Kartal, Ümraniye, and Tuzla, we treat not just the symptom but the cause.

The osteopathic treatment applied at Wellness Studio is based on increasing blood supply to tissues, regulating nerve transmission, and removing mechanical obstacles. This special method, applied entirely by hand without the use of medication or devices, releases the healing potential within the body rather than adding something from the outside.

Who is this service for?

  • Individuals complaining of chronic and radiating pain with no known cause
  • People experiencing frequent headaches, migraines, and temporomandibular joint (TMJ) problems
  • Those feeling constant tension and stiffness in the neck, back, and lower back
  • Individuals with referred pain related to internal organ dysfunction (digestion, respiration)
  • People with posture disorders, scoliosis, and spinal asymmetry
  • Those who want to accelerate tissue healing after stress, trauma, or surgery
  • Women experiencing physical adaptation problems during and after pregnancy
  • Individuals seeking a holistic assessment and permanent treatment aimed at the root cause

How is it applied?

01

Holistic Assessment

In the first session, not only the painful area but the entire body (posture, joint mobility, fascial tensions, and organ relationships) is manually evaluated in detail.

02

Structural Osteopathy (Parietal)

Mechanical balance is re-established by applying soft tissue and mobilization techniques to the musculoskeletal system (bones, joints, muscles, and ligaments).

03

Visceral Osteopathy

The mobility and motility of internal organs among themselves and with surrounding tissues are evaluated; organ-connective tissue tensions are relieved with specific manual contacts.

04

Craniosacral Osteopathy

The central nervous system is relaxed by balancing the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) rhythm in the system extending from the skull bones to the tailbone.

05

Integration and Regulation

After resolving imbalances in the body's three main systems, the body's self-healing (autoregulation) mechanism is activated, initiating a permanent healing process.

Benefits of Osteopathy

Providing a permanent solution by getting down to the root cause of the pain, not just the symptom
Harmonious operation of musculoskeletal, nervous, and organ systems
Improvement of blood and lymph circulation, increased tissue nutrition
Reduction of stress and tension by balancing the autonomic nervous system
Mechanical improvement in the functions of internal organs (digestion, respiration, etc.)
Increased sleep quality and overall energy levels
A completely manual, natural healing process applied without medication or surgery
Activation of the body's own defense and repair mechanisms

Frequently Asked Questions

How is osteopathy different from massage or standard physiotherapy?
Osteopathy is a system that considers the body as a whole. While massage focuses on muscle relaxation, standard physiotherapy generally concentrates on rehabilitating the problematic area. Osteopathy, on the other hand, can look for the source of pain in a distant area (e.g., investigating whether right shoulder pain originates from the liver or gallbladder fascia) and treats it by integrating structural, visceral, and cranial systems.
What exactly is Visceral (Internal Organ) Osteopathy?
Internal organs (stomach, liver, intestines, etc.) attach to the spine and other structures via connective tissues and membranes. Visceral osteopathy relieves tensions in these membranes with light touches, increasing both the organ's own mobility and resolving referred musculoskeletal pain originating from the organ (e.g., back pain due to a stomach problem).
Will I feel pain during the treatment?
Osteopathy generally involves very gentle and painless touches (fascial releases, listening to the craniosacral rhythm, etc.). A feeling of deep relaxation is common during treatment. Sometimes, a momentary, tolerable pressure may be felt when intervening in trigger points or restricted fascias.
How often are osteopathy sessions held?
Osteopathy is a treatment method where the body needs time to repair itself. Therefore, sessions are generally planned once a week, or sometimes even once every 15 days. While the number of sessions varies according to the patient's acute or chronic condition, permanent results are targeted between an average of 4-8 sessions.
Is osteopathy applied to babies or pregnant women?
Yes, especially craniosacral and light visceral techniques are extremely gentle. It is very effective for lower back/pelvis pain during pregnancy and in helping the body adapt to its shifting center of gravity. Pediatric osteopathy is widely used in newborns for colic, sleep problems, or head asymmetries related to birth trauma.
