Manual Therapy

Leave chronic pain behind with the healing touch of expert hands.

Manual therapy is an evidence-based treatment method applied by expert physiotherapists using specific hand techniques on the spine and joints to relieve pain, restore movement, and improve quality of life. At our Wellness Studio in Pendik, Istanbul, our internationally trained physiotherapists provide personalized manual therapy protocols for lower back, neck, back, shoulder, and joint pain.

Manual therapy doesn't just temporarily relieve pain; it targets the underlying structural and mechanical causes to offer profound and permanent solutions. Specific hand techniques applied to improve spinal biomechanics, increase joint mobility, and re-establish muscle-fascia balance yield fast and lasting results for our patients coming from Kadıköy, Maltepe, Kartal, Ümraniye, Tuzla, and surrounding districts.

The manual therapy protocols applied at Wellness Studio are based on world-class, evidence-based approaches like Maitland, Kaltenborn, McKenzie, and Mulligan. A comprehensive posture and movement analysis is performed before each session; a custom treatment plan is created in line with the patient's individual biomechanics, pain profile, and goals. For individuals seeking permanent solutions to pain in Pendik, Istanbul, our center is at your service with its modern clinical infrastructure and expert staff.

02

Joint Mobilization and Manipulation

Joint movement and spinal biomechanics are restored using specific speed and amplitude techniques applied to blocked or stiffened joints.

03

Myofascial Release

The pain cycle is broken by resolving tension foci (trigger points) and fascial restrictions in muscles with specific soft tissue techniques.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between manual therapy and chiropractic?
Although both use hand techniques, Manual Therapy is a holistic clinical approach applied by physiotherapists based on a comprehensive musculoskeletal assessment and a broad repertoire of techniques (joint mobilization, myofascial release, neural mobilization). Chiropractic mainly focuses on spinal subluxations. At Wellness Studio, techniques from both disciplines can be applied together; the most suitable treatment plan is created according to the individual's clinical picture.
How many sessions are required, and how long does a session take?
Depending on the duration and severity of the complaint, 4-6 sessions are generally sufficient for acute pain, while 8-12 sessions may be recommended for chronic and deep-rooted problems. Each session takes an average of 45-60 minutes. We transparently share the estimated number of sessions and the recovery roadmap with you during the first assessment.
Is manual therapy a painful procedure?
When applied correctly, manual therapy is generally a painless or minimally uncomfortable treatment. A brief sensation of pressure or tension may be experienced during joint movements; however, the vast majority of patients report a significant feeling of lightness and relief after the session. All techniques are adjusted according to your feedback and tolerance.
Can I come for Manual Therapy from outside Pendik?
Yes. Although our center is located in Pendik, we regularly welcome patients from Kadıköy, Maltepe, Kartal, Ümraniye, Tuzla, Sultanbeyli, Sancaktepe, Ataşehir, and various districts of the Asian Side. Thanks to our proximity to Marmaray and easy access to the E-5 highway, patients find transportation very practical.
Does manual therapy completely replace chiropractic, massage, or acupuncture?
No; each focuses on a different area. While manual therapy clinically addresses the mechanical and neural components of the musculoskeletal system, massage focuses on general muscle relaxation, and acupuncture works with a different system targeting energy balance and trigger points. The advantage of Wellness Studio is offering multiple disciplines under one roof and programming these methods together according to the person's needs.
