Orthopedic Rehabilitation is a specialized branch of physical therapy applied to repair damaged tissues, open restricted range of motion, and regain lost muscle strength after bone fractures, muscle/tendon tears, joint dislocations, and all kinds of orthopedic surgical interventions (hip/knee prostheses, meniscus and cruciate ligament surgeries, etc.). At our Wellness Studio Pendik clinic, we offer an intensive rehabilitation process based on scientific principles that will carry the success achieved on the operating table into daily life.
The post-operative or post-cast/splint period is challenging for patients both physically and psychologically. Severe stiffness in joints that have remained immobile for a long time and visible melting (atrophy) in muscles can frighten patients. For our post-op patients referred to our clinic from Kadıköy, Maltepe, Kartal, and Ümraniye; we apply completely personalized and one-to-one (1-to-1) treatment plans without damaging the tissue, strictly following the protocols drawn by the surgeon.
Our experienced physiotherapists, who carry out the entire rehabilitation process "by observing the pain limit but also pushing the tissue limits", focus mainly on manual joint mobilizations, soft tissue massages, and progressive resistance exercises in addition to device treatments such as TENS/Ultrasound. Our goal is to ensure that you regain your pre-injury functionality and even a stronger musculoskeletal structure than before.
Who Is This Service For?
- Patients who have undergone knee/hip replacement surgery or meniscus surgery
- Those in the recovery period after Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) repair or rotator cuff tear surgery
- Bone fracture patients who have finished the cast or splint process and experience joint restriction and muscle wasting
- People who have suffered a severe ankle sprain or shoulder dislocation
- Those who have not been recommended surgery but have severe joint/ligament damage (conservative treatment)
- Those who want to regain function after Achilles tendon rupture
- Active athletes aiming for return to play after a sports injury
- Those carrying a risk of falling due to muscle weakness and having joint instability
How Is It Applied?
Post-Op (Post-Surgical) Assessment
Your surgeon's directions, surgical epicrisis (report), and imaging are reviewed. Your current pain status, wound healing, and joint restriction (ROM) are analyzed.
Pain and Edema Control
Methods such as TENS, cold application (cryotherapy), lymphatic drainage massage, or kinesio taping are applied to control swelling (edema) and pain in the tissue in the first stage.
Gaining Range of Motion (ROM)
Passive and active-assisted joint mobilization techniques are applied under the supervision of a physiotherapist to open stiffness in joints that have been immobile or in a cast for a long time.
Strengthening and Proprioception
As painless angles are achieved, active exercises with resistance bands and balance equipment are initiated to re-strengthen weakened muscles and provide a sense of joint position (balance).
Return to Functional Training
In the final stage, sport/work-specific advanced dynamic exercises are applied for the patient to return to activities of daily living (climbing stairs, walking) or sports smoothly.
