Medical Spa & Relaxation

Medical and Clinical Massage

Not just ordinary relaxation; a true healing touch respecting anatomy from the hands of a physiotherapist.

Today's stressful lifestyle, prolonged sitting, and inactivity cause lactic acid accumulation in our muscles, impaired blood circulation, and the formation of painful muscle knots (trigger points) that we call "kulunç". Medical (Clinical) Massage is a medical intervention that comes into play exactly at this point.

While classic massages you get at spa centers provide only temporary relaxation, the Medical Massage applied at Wellness Studio Pendik clinic is performed by expert physiotherapists with a 4-year university degree, based on anatomy and kinesiology science. The goal is not just to rub the skin, but to treat the muscle fibers, connective tissue (fascia), and circulatory system under the skin.

The application begins with a special physiotherapy evaluation that determines the source of the pain. According to your body's needs, kneading (petrissage), friction, trigger point pressure, and myofascial release techniques are blended to offer a unique healing session lasting 45 to 60 minutes. The lightness and freedom of movement you will feel at the end of the session will prove to you why medical massage is an indispensable need.

Who Is This Service For?

  • Those with chronic muscle spasms (knots) in the neck, back, and shoulder area
  • Those experiencing intense stress and posture disorders due to desk work
  • Individuals diagnosed with fibromyalgia (widespread muscle pain) syndrome
  • Athletes who train intensely and want to relieve muscle fatigue (lactic acid)
  • Those experiencing physical symptoms due to insomnia, tension, and anxiety
  • Those complaining of circulatory disorders (edema, swelling)
  • Patients who cannot get any medical benefit from massages in classic spa centers

How Is It Applied?

01

Physiotherapist Evaluation

Before the massage, your posture, painful areas (trigger points), and muscle tension level are evaluated by an expert physiotherapist.

02

Warming and Preparation

Hot towel compresses or light superficial touches (effleurage) are applied to increase blood circulation and prepare the muscles for manipulation.

03

Specific Muscle Manipulation

In the light of anatomy knowledge, kneading (petrissage) and friction techniques are applied only to target muscle groups causing pain.

04

Trigger Point Therapy

Local pressures are applied to intramuscular stiffnesses, popularly known as "knots", to resolve the spasm and relax the fascia.

05

Circulatory and Lymphatic Support

With lymphatic drainage massage strokes applied towards the end of the session, the excretion of edema and toxins in the tissues is accelerated.

Benefits of Medical Massage

A deep sense of relaxation that begins instantly by resolving the tension in the muscles with medical techniques
Oxygenation of cells and removal of edema thanks to the acceleration of blood and lymph circulation
Increasing joint range of motion and flexibility by eliminating adhesions in the tissues
Reducing stress and cortisol by increasing the secretion of endorphins and serotonin (happiness hormones) in the body
Significant improvement in sleep quality and alleviation of chronic fatigue syndrome

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between medical massage and classic spa massage (Swedish, Thai, etc.)?
Spa massages are generally for relaxation purposes and are applied to the whole body with a standard rhythm by therapists without anatomy training. Medical (Clinical) Massage, on the other hand, is applied by Physiotherapists who are 4-year university graduates, entirely focused on "treatment (pain relief)" based on the science of anatomy and physiology.
Will I feel pain during the massage?
The aim of medical massage is not to damage the tissue. However, it is normal to feel a "sweet pain" or "relaxing tension" while intervening in tense muscles and trigger points (knots). Our therapist will adjust the pressure intensity entirely according to your tolerance.
How often should I get a medical massage?
It depends on the person's stress level, profession, and muscle tension. If you are in an acute period with intense pain, a short course of 1-2 sessions a week is ideal, but if you are considering it only for protection and increasing the quality of life, regular medical massage 1 or 2 times a month is ideal.
What oils do you use for the massage?
We use 100% natural carrier oils (sweet almond, sesame, or coconut oil) that are suitable for skin health and allergen-free, and relaxing essential oils (lavender, peppermint). If you have an allergy, just state it before the session.
